19th Roundtable: Practical Compliance Strategy for Business in China

Introduction

China Business Leaders Forum (CBLF) will hold its next roundtable on Tuesday7thFeb 2012, 10:00am –1:00pm at the Meeting Room 1, First Floor, Yifu International Conference Centre, Renmin University of China (No. 59 Zhongguancun Street, Haidian District, Beijing). This 19th roundtable of CBLF will focus on “Practical Compliance Strategy for Business in China” and will include akey-note speechfeaturing Mr. Richard Alderman, Director of the UK’s Serious Fraud Office,and an interactive case study led by a Siemens expert and focused on the main topics in compliance and how companies implement compliance practice.

As international and domestic anti-corruption regulation becomes more stringent, companies are exposed to increasing risksaroused from their business practices both at home and overseas. For companies which are listed or operate in a foreign market, they often find it challenging whenfacing extraterritorial legislation such as the UK Bribery Act.How can they navigate themselves through the regulation challenges and thrive in both national and the global market becomes one of the top priorities for the Chief Compliance Officer and top management of those companies.

The 19th roundtable will be hosted by China Business Leaders Forum (CBLF),a joint programme between Renmin University of China and International Business Leaders Forum. After an in-depth case study themed “what are the main topics in compliance and how companies implement compliance practice”, we’ll welcome our guest of honour, Mr. Richard Alderman, Director of the UK’s Serious Fraud Office, to give a keynote speech calledUK Bribery Act and its implication to business in China. He will introduce the China business community to the UK Bribery Actand the impact of the new UK Bribery Act on companies in China. TheSerious Fraud Office is responsible for the new law’s introduction and implementation in the U.K.

A Q&A session and interactive discussion will be followed and facilitated by Control Risks. All participants are encouraged to share good practices of both Chinese and multinational companies to reduce corruption risk and improve business standards in various countries and regions they operate.There will be an opportunity for you to learn from your peers and network with fellow top professionals working in the anti-corruption arena in Chinese and multinational companies.The exclusive exposure will be learning the latest legislation in the global market, its impact to Chinese businesses, and impressing our keynote speaker with efforts being taken by the government and the business community in China to combat corruption.

This roundtable is intended for Chief Compliance Officers, Chief or Senior Legal Counsels, Heads of Internal Audit, Finance Directors, and any other function responsible for managing the risks and protecting the reputation of the company.
